Exceptional Pre-World War I Unit Marked Imperial German
DWM Model 1906 Altered First Issue Navy Luger Semi-
Automatic Pistol With Matching Magazine - Serial no. 884a,
9 mm parabellum cal., 6 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut
grips. An excellent example of an Imperial German DWM Model
1906 First Issue, altered, Navy Luger pistol, one of approximately 8,000 of this model
originally manufactured. These were the standard Pre-World War I Navy Luger issued
to the Imperial German Navy all the way through World War I, and even into the Weimar
era. This first issue Navy 1906 Luger has the desirable 6 inch Navy barrel, two-position 100-
200 meter Navy rear sight, grip safety, and altered second variation safety markings with “GESICHERT” in the upper position. The majority of these first issue Navy Lugers had their safety markings modified, as is the case with this example, with the original “GESICHERT” marking
on the lower position milled off. It has all matching visible numbers, with un-numbered (possibly replacement) checkered walnut grip panels, and a Navy type magazine with nickel plated body and walnut base with concentric circles, numbered “884,” along with a “crown/M” Navy proof. The top of the chamber area is undated with “EB,” and the standard “DWM” logo is marked on the front toggle. The underside of the barrel is marked with a “crown/M” Navy acceptance proof with a “crown” proof on the left. The left of the barrel extension has the “crown” firing proof followed by double “crown/M” Navy acceptance proof marks. “Crown” proof mark also located on the left of the breech block. The rear grip strap is marked with a “IMAA/43.” unit marking.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine overall,
retaining 95% plus blue and straw
finishes with light edge wear,
thinning on the controls, and crisp
grip checkering.
Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500

Swiss Contract Mauser
Model 1934/06 Commercial
Luger Semi-Automatic
Pistol - Serial no. 1909v, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 4 3/4 inch
round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut grips. A fine example of a
inter-war manufactured Mauser Model 1934/06 Commercial Luger
pistol made for the existing DWM Swiss contract. During World War
I, DWM was unable to fulfill the Swiss demand for Luger pistols and
resumed in 1919. When Mauser took control of DWM in May 1930, all the
Luger manufacturing equipment along with the unfinished Swiss contract pistols were
included and moved to Suhl, Germany. These pistols were subsequently finished and
marked by Mauser, serialized with a “v” suffix where DWM left off. It is estimated that only
217 grip safety frames from DWM were available for Mauser to finish, making this a very scarce
variation for Luger collectors. It features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, Swiss sunburst
crest on top of the chamber, and Mauser banner on the front toggle link. Both the barrel and
extension are marked with “crown/crown/U” proofs. Matching visible serial numbers located on the
bottom of the barrel and front of frame, with two digit “09” partials marked on smaller components
including the side of the extension. Extractor marked “GELADEN” and safety bright in the lower position.
Fitted with straw colored small parts and pair of unmarked checkered walnut grips. The nickel finished magazine has an unmarked aluminum base. A portion of leather strap is sowed
onto the lanyard loop.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining
90% plus arsenal refurbished
blue and 85% plus straw
finishes with minor edge
wear, light handling marks,
and crisp grip checkering.
Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
