Exhibition Quality Engraved and Gold Inlaid Custom Horn Paneled Action Sharps Borchardt Model 1878 Mid-Range Rifle - Serial no. 20889, 38 cal., 30 inch round bbl., blue/coin/gold finish, fancy checkered walnut stock. This is one of an estimated 215 Mid-Range Sharps- Borchardt rifles that were manufactured from 1877 to 1880. With custom barrel marked “A.A. KELOGG NEW HAVEN, CONN,” with two Unertl pattern scope bases attached. The barrel is fitted with a globe front sight with wind gauge
and a folding ladder rear sight graduated 0-25. There is a
Vernier peep sight mounted in the integral base on the upper tang. The serial number is
marked on the bottom of the action just in front of the trigger. The frame features 90% coverage floral engraving, with gold inlay moose game scene on the left side and ram game scene on the
right, fitted with smooth horn panels. It is mounted with a finely figured, Schnabel tip, multi-point checkered forearm and checkered pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap and checkered, “SRCo”
monogrammed, hard rubber, shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as elaborately custom
embellished, with 99% of blue finish retained on
barrel, 97% coin finish on the action, and limited handling marks. Light spotting in the relief chiseling on action lever. Crisp
checkering and minor handling marks on forearm and buttstock. Mechanically very good. Estimate: 5,000 - 8,000
LOT 599 Factory Engraved Dakota Arms Model 10 Single Shot Rifle with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 0299, 270 Win cal., 23 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Fitted with blued steel barrel manufactured without sights, marked “270 WIN,” and hosting the front scope base and scope ring, with the ring casehardened and display fine floral scroll engraving. The action and rear scope ring are finished in the same fashion and show
extensive coverage floral scroll engraving extending to the lever. Mounted in a beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend and pistol grip stock with an engraved casehardened grip cap marked with “DA” monogram, inscription oval inscribed “JLG,” and black rubber buttpad. With Zeiss Diatal-Z 6X42 T* scope and scope covers. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus of the original blue and casehardened finishes, with scattered light handling marks. The wood is fine with minor dings, scratches, and crisp checkering. Scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000
