Presentation Kidder Cased Exhibition Engraved and Gold Inlaid Smith & Wesson .32 Single Action Revolver with Pearl Grips - Serial no. 27612, 32 S&W cal., 3 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., nickel finish, pearl grips. Manufactured from 1878 to 1892. The revolver is decorated with delicate floral scrollwork on a stippled background inspired by Young family patterns. Scrollwork on the barrel and frame is accented in gold inlay. Gold inlaid bands are featured on the barrel at the muzzle and on the rear of
the cylinder. A bird’s head is engraved amongst the scrollwork on top of the back strap. The revolver wears a set of highly attractive pearl grips. Matching serial numbers appear on the butt, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch. The revolver is housed in a period W. Kidder presentation mahogany case. The partitioned case is stamped with the April 1854 patent date associated with cases sold by Kidder. This patent marking is stamped
on the interior of the case between the two brass hinges. The case also features a cartridge block holding a full count of 17 rounds and brass corner protectors. A cleaning rod is included.
CONDITION: Fine displaying a pleasing smooth gray patina associated with a well traveled sidearm with crisp engraving. The grips are excellent with a few scratches and highly attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks and typical high spot wear on the lining. An engraved and gold inlaid S&W .32 Single Action revolver housed in a highly sought after Kidder presentation case.
