LOT 3608 Factory Engraved Belgian Boxlock Double Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 6242, 450 Express cal., 25 11/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a beaded blade front sight, two leaf (one folding, one standing) rear sight, and German style claw mounts holding a Hensoldt Wetzlar Duralyt 1 1/2x scope on the matted solid rib, light engraving at either breech, and chambers with a single extractor. The casehardened sideclipped scalloped boxlock action displays scroll engraving and features double
triggers (front is articulated) and a tang mounted manual safety with a gold “S” marking. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and an
inscription oval marked “W.S./TYLER/JR./LEXINGTON/KY/U.S.A.”, and a round knob pistol grip stock with rear sling swivel and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. The identity of W. S. Tyler Jr. could not not be confirmed, though he is likely the son of American industrialist W. S. Tyler, founder of W. S. Tyler & Co. Length of pull 14 5/16 inches. Weight 7 lbs. 8 oz.
CONDITION: Very good overall, retaining 80% original blue finish which has turned an attractive brown color on the barrels, 25% case colors concentrated in the protected areas, some light spotting, mild handling evidence, and overall crisp checkering. Scope optics are clear. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 7,000
LOT 3609 Factory Engraved Belgian Boxlock Ejector Double Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 19203, 9.3x74R cal., 25 5/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a ramped front sight base (blade absent) and scope mounts holding a Lyman Alaskan All-Weather scope on the matted solid rib, Liege proofs on the flats, and chambers with automatic ejectors. The blued boxlock action displays light border engraving and features bushed firing pins, double trigger (front is articulated), and a tang mounted manual safety switch with a gold “S”. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered forend and swan’s neck stock with checkered teardrop carved flats, rear sling swivel, and red rubber Pachmayr recoil
pad. Length of pull 14 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: Very fine overall as professionally refurbished, retaining 98% blue finish with some minor sub-surface oxidation, minor handling evidence, a chip at the left rear of the forend, and sharp checkering. Scope optics are good. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000
LOT 3610 Factory R. China Signed and Engraved Cordy & Fils Boxlock Double Rifle - Serial no. 28069, 9.3x74R cal., 24 3/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a ramped beaded blade front sight, fixed rear sight and German claw mounts on the rear quarter rib, import mark under the forend, and chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished boxlock action displays attractive scroll engraving and features double triggers, bushed gas check firing pins, and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. The engraving is signed “Gr. CHINA R.” on the triggerplate and there is a retailer mark on the lower tang. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings and a straight grip stock with gold inscription oval and brown rubber recoil pad. Length of pull 14 9/16 inches. Weight 7 lbs. 13 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence, some minor spotting at the right fence, and sharp checkering on the forend and stock which has a replacement recoil pad. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
