The left scene depicts a pair of pointers on point as a grouse is flushed in a field, and the right shows a flock of four mallards in flight over water. The left scene is signed at
the bottom of the scene with “PM”, possibly for American Master Pauline Muerrle. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured, multi-point
checkered forend and pistol grip stock with Winchester grip cap and recoil pad. Stock measurements: 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 2 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as upgraded to current configuration, retaining 99% blue finish with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000

The scrollwork flows off of the action onto the triggerguard which has then been filled white creating a fine contrast. The gun is fitted with a nicely figured and panel checkered forend and a
pistol grip stock with wood grip cap, absent rear sling stud, two ducks carved in the right side, and a Pachmayr White-Line recoil
pad. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 13 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as custom embellished, retaining 98% blue finish, 99% silver inlaid finish, slight plum hue on the receiver, minor handling evidence, some pressure marks in the wood, and sharp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000

LOT 1558 Upgraded Winchester Model 42 Slide Action Shotgun - Serial no. 161472, 410 gauge, 26 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, fancy checkered walnut stock. Manufactured in 1961. Dual white bead sights on the matted Simmons Gun Specialties vent rib, 3 inch chamber, and choke marked “full”. Mounted in a magnificently figured multipoint checkered walnut forend and straight grip stock with checkered plastic Winchester buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine as custom upgraded, retaining 97% plus refinished blue finish with some light high edge wear at the front of the receiver, slide retraction marks, and an attractive plum coloration on the sideplate. Wood is also very fine with minimal handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,750 - 4,250

Built with blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with dual sights on the matted concave solid rib, standard factory markings, chokes marked “IMP.-CYL.”/”MOD.”, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with a single extractor. Fitted to a blued action which is unadorned aside from “TRAP” on the triggerplate and features a single selective trigger and a tang mount manual safety. Mounted with a beautifully
figured and multi-point checkered beavertail forend and pistol grip
