Model 1877 Falling Block Rifle with Case and Accessories
- Serial no. T.R.G.-77-1, 40 cal., 29 7/8 inch heavy round bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. Features globe and spirit level front, Newton patent

shutter blind rear, and tang mounted Vernier long rang folding ladder peep sights. The barrel
is marked “T.R. GIRODAT KITCHENER ONT.” and “CALIBRE 40.” Embellished with fine floral scroll engravings with punch dot backgrounds on the receiver, upper and lower tangs, lever, Vernier
sight base, forend escutcheons, and plates at the buttstock toe and heel. The engraver, Adone T. Pozzobon, has a signature engraved just to the right of the trigger. Import marked. Fitted with checkered European walnut furniture, with horn tipped forend and horn inlaid semi-pistol grip. Includes oak display case with green felt lining, three hardwood handled screwdrivers, three tins for oil, grease, and solvent; cleaning rod, bore funnel, bore cleaning tools, Lyman bullet mold, brush, and an empty original box of Remington U.M.C. .40-65-260 ammunition. The case has John A. Miller and T.R. Girodat labels on inside of lid. According to consignor, this rifle was a five year project between six different craftsmen, with the case set made by John A. Miller, barrel by Ken Besien, and casehardened finish by Arthur Troth.
CONDITION: Near new as professionally crafted by several artisans, with 99% plus of blue and casehardened finishes retained along with light handling marks and crisp stock checkering. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
