Documented Factory Game Panel Scene Westley Richards Presentation Grade Deeley & Edge Patent Sidelever Falling Block Single Shot Dangerous Game Rifle - Serial no. 1271, 500 Express cal., 26 3/8 inch irregular bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with a blued steel barrel featuring a beaded blade front sight, a two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear sight, as well as a folding ladder rear sight on the matted sighting flat which is marked “WESTLEY RICHARDS. & Co.170 NEW BOND. STREET. LONDON.” in gold lettering and “METFORD’S PATENT RIFLING/FOR .500 BORE TAPER EXPRESS CARTRIDGE”. The barrel is also marked with Birmingham proofs and the serial number along with
having the under rib mounted ram rod ferrules and front sling eye. The barrel is fitted to the Deeley & Edge 1881 patent sidelever falling block action which displays near full coverage scroll engraving surrounding “SOLE MANUFACTURERS/WESTLEY RICHARDS/170 NEW BOND St. LONDON” marked
on the left along with a vignette of a lion laying in repose, “DEELEY-EDGE/PATENT EXPRESS RIFLE” marked on the right, and a triangle around “1885” inlaid in gold on the top. The forward area
of the triggerguard shows a bust of a lion, the guard itself has a tiger, and the upper tang shows a wolf,
all surrounded by more tight scrollwork. The replacement wood consists of a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered
forend with horn tip, engraved wedge escutcheon, and housing the black ram rod with brass tips as well as a round knob pistol grip stock with a tiger and scroll engraved patchbox, rear sling eye, and a red rubber recoil pad. This rifle is pictured on pages 135 and 136 of Wil Winfer’s “British Single Shot Rifles; Volume IV”, though in the caption the serial number is
recorded incorrectly and the photos taken prior to the wood being replaced. Length of pull 14 3/16 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 6 oz. CONDITION: Very good, retaining 70% period refurbished blue finish with some light scattered pitting, silver patina on the action, clear markings, and overall mild handling evidence. The wood is very fine r hands on a scarce Deeley & Edge action rifle! Estimate: 6,000 - 9,000
marking on the top flat, and a harpoon gun logo is marked on the bottom at the breech end. It is mounted with a figured walnut stock with an orange rubber recoil pad.
CONDITION: Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish, some patches of oxidation and light pitting, 85% plus of the bright original case colors on the hammer, aged patina on the brass, and general minor overall wear. The stock is also very good and has some nice figure along with mild dings and scratches. The recoil pad is deteriorated with hardening and moderate flaking. Mechanically excellent.

Exceptional Westley Richards Percussion Harpoon Gun - NSN, 20 gauge, 20 1/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, highly
figured walnut stock. This harpoon gun was manufactured The heavy barrel has a nickel silver bead front sight and is signed “WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co. Ld. LONDON W.” on the flat at the breech end and has Birmingham proof marks from the early 20th
century, including the nominal bore size 20. There is also an electopencilled “2/XII/204”
with a few minor marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A great chance to get you
