LOT 3542 Factory Engraved Rheinmetall Hammer Double Rifle - Serial no. 39041, 9.3x72 R cal., 25 5/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel barrels with a ramped blade front sight and two-leaf (one standing, one folding) rear sight on the matted flat solid rib which is marked “RHEIN. MET. u. MASCHFABR. ABT. SOEMMERUA GEWEHRFABRIK.”, dual gold inlaid bands at the breech, front sling swivel, 1929 dated German proofs, and chambers with a single extractor. The barrels are paired with a highly attractive
casehardened action which displays extensive near full coverage bouquet and scroll engraving and beautifully sculpted
hammers. The rifle features rebounding hammers, a horn triggerguard, and double triggers. The rifle is fitted with a lightly figured and multi-point checkered forend with
engraved fittings and a horn tip and a highly figured pistol grip stock with carved drop points, horn grip cap, raised cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, and a horn buttplate. Included are a number of documents giving information on Rheinmetall including correspondence and translated writings. Length of pull 13 7/8 inches. Weight 5 lbs. 13 oz. CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 98% original blue finish, 90% original casehardened finish with some fading, scattered faint speckling, minor handling evidence, a few minor dings in the stock, and sharp checkering. Three Boxes (14 Cartridges) of Holland & Holland REWA 4 1/4 inch Smokeless 4 Bore Ammunition - Three boxes of Holland & Holland REWA 4 Bore (Smokeless) 4 1/4 inch case cartridges with 2,000 grain solid lead projectiles. The boxes contain a total of 14 cartridges. All three boxes have yellow labels bearing factory markings and have broken seals.
CONDITION: The two full boxes are very fine with minor to light staining on the labels, the third is very good with moderate staining but still very legible markings. The cartridges are all very fine with some showing patination on the brass. A rare chance to own original boxes of massive 4 bore cartridges! Estimate: 1,500 - 2,500

The gun is mounted with a nicely figured panel checkered forend with engraved casehardened fittings and a round knob pistol grip stock with blank silver inscription shield
and engraved casehardened steel buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 12 lbs. CONDITION: Very fine as professionally refurbished, retaining 90% plus brown finish, 80% case colors, light handling evidence, a few light dings in the wood, some chipping at the
edges, and crisp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent.

 LOT 3541 Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Friedrich Bartels Double Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 592, 8.7 mm cal., 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened/gold finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a ramped beaded blade front sight, a fixed rear sight, and German claw mounts holding a Kahles Helia-Super 1.5-4.5x scope on the matted solid rib, engraving at the breech, barrels proofed at 8.7mm (likely 9.3x74R), and chambers with a single extractor. The barrels are fitted to an attractive casehardened boxlock action which is covered with checkerboard pattern with gold inlaid line borders as well as “FRIED.JAC.BARTELS/WIESBADEN” on the left bolster and “HOEWAFFEN/FABRIKANT” on the right. The rifle features double triggers with single set front and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”.
