Exceptional Abercrombie & Fitch Shipped Factory Engraved Boss & Co. 20 Gauge Self-Opening Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun
with Factory Letter and Case - Serial no. 8613, 20 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Boss & Co. build
some of the finest guns in the world with this gun being a shining example of the quality of work one can expect from the company and
is the embodiment of Donald Dallas’ book “Boss & Co.: Builders of Best Guns Only”. The gun is built with blued steel chopperlump barrels
featuring a single brass bead sight on the flat matted solid rib, “BOSS & Co. 41. ALBEMABLE STREET. PICCADILLY. LONDON. W.” and “MADE
IN ENGLAND” engraved on the right and left tubes respectively, a single band of engraving at the breech, 2 3/4” chambers with automatic
ejectors, and correct period proof marks on the flats. The barrels are fitted to a highly attractive self-opening sidelock action which
displays classic bouquet and scroll engraving surrounding “BOSS & Co.” signatures on either lockplate before continuing on the toplever,
triggerguard, and both of the tangs. The gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers, a right hand rolled triggerguard, gold centerlined
cocking indicators on either lockplate, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE” indicator. The gun is fitted with a
beautifully figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and an Anson button release as well as a straight grip
stock with tear drop carved drop points, blank gold inscription oval, and a checkered bare butt. Included is a 1990 dated letter from Boss
& Co. confirming the current configuration of 20 gauge, 26 inch barrels, 2 3/4 inch chambers, chokes, matted rib, stock length, and weight
when it was ordered by Abercrombie & Fitch of New York on May 23rd, 1938, and shipped via the Queen Mary on October 29 of the same
year. Abercrombie & Fitch was once one of America’s largest suppliers of sporting goods and had a long track record of working with the
