Highly Desirable Colt M16 LMG Light Machine
Gun, 9 Million Serial Number Range, Class III/
NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no.
9527468, 5.56 mm cal., 20 inch round bbl., matte
gray finish, synthetic stock. Developed in the 1980s
as a joint venture between Colt and Diemaco
(later known as Colt Canada), the M16 LMG was
an evolution of prior concepts in making a M16
variant that could fill the squad automatic weapon
role in an infantry unit, capable of running on both
extended drum magazines and, in event of need,
standard STANAG-profile magazines. Later variants
of the M16 LMG would be adopted by the Canadian
military as the C7 Light Support Weapon as well as
by the Netherlands and Denmark. Using the M16A1
and M16A2 as a base, the external profile and
general handling of the weapon is very similar to
typical the M16, though several critical differences
are present. The barrel measures in at over .9
inches in external diameter, and is fitted with an
A2 style flash hider, M60 style bipod, A-profile front
sight base (sans bayonet lug) and an oversized
rectangular handguard that contains mounting
points for a folding carry handle (included) and
vertical foregrip (absent). The upper receiver is
properly without a forward assist, with a large
casing deflector and an A2 pattern rear sight.
