Excellent and Rare German Heckler & Koch PSG1 “Praezisionsschuetzengewehr” Semi-Automatic Sniper
Rifle with Hensoldt Wetzlar Scope, Case, and Accessories - Serial no. 44-1886, 7.62x51mm NATO (308) cal., 26 inch
heavy round bbl., black finish, synthetic stock. Developed starting in 1968, and produced from 1972 to 2014 by the
German Heckler & Koch firm, with this specific example from 1995 production, the PSG1 “Praezisionsschuetzengewehr”
(translated as: “Precision marksman rifle”) is a variation of H&K’s G3 family of roller-delayed rifles, especially tuned and
geared for use as a semi-automatic sniper platform with a reported shot deviation expectancy of under one minute of
angle (1 MOA) at 100 yards with match ammunition. Such rifles
are a rare find and ever desirable on the U.S. collector’s market,
with no more than 400 believed to have been imported by
2005. Manufactured without iron sights, it features a 26 inch
heavy profile un-fluted barrel, steel reinforcement rails welded
over the sides of the G3 pattern retractable stock channels on
the sides of the stamped receiver, reshaped semi-cylindrical
rollers on the matching numbered bolt head for more precise
lockup positioning, an enhanced trigger with adjustable shoe
placement, a low-noise bolt closing device (similar to the forward
assist of the M16A1), and an integral scope mount on top of the
receiver mounted with a Hensoldt Wetzlar ZF6 PSG1
6x42 mm scope (serial number “9129779”) with
illuminated reticle and rubber eye piece. The left
side of the magazine well is marked with the “PSG1”
model marking, serial number, caliber designation,
and “KF” (“95”) H&K date code, with the “Made in
Germany” and importer markings on the right side.
Fitted with a textured triangular polymer forend, a
finger grooved hardwood pistol grip with texturing
and an adjustable palm shelf, and a PSG1 pattern
fixed textured polymer buttstock with adjustable
cheek rest and a heavy rubber butt. Includes a metal
transport case fitted for the rifle containing three
extra magazines, a H&K Loga system tripod, manual,
tools, keys for the case, and a matching numbered factory test-fire target.
CONDITION: Excellent plus overall, retaining 99% plus original black finish with limited
minor handling evidence, some dirt/dust in the texturing of the polymer furniture,
and crisp stamps. Mechanically excellent. The scope is excellent with clear optics,
electronically untested. The case is exceptionally fine. Overall a very attractive example
of the ever desirable and rare German H&K PSG1 “Praezisionsschuetzengewehr”,
complete with scope, case, and accessories, which would be a highlight addition to any sniper
or law enforcement collection!
