Factory Letter - Serial
no. 1350, 22 RF Short cal.,
24 3/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish,
walnut stock. Manufactured in 1891. The included factory letter lists the rifle in .22 Short caliber when received at
the warehouse on 20 April 1891, and shipped the following day in order number 1846. German silver blade front and
fixed notch rear sights on the correct First Model 24 3/8 inch barrel with first style inscription, “22 SHORT” caliber marking on
the top flat at the breech, casehardened First Model solid frame receiver with blued breechbolt, casehardened hammer, and standard three-line maker, model,
and patent marking on the upper tang. 12 groove slide handle and plain walnut straight grip stock with casehardened crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with 85% plus original blue finish on the barrel, some minor brown patina on the magazine tube, and casual collector type wear.
The receiver has 85% strong original vivid case colors thinning on the high edges. The wood is very fine with some small scattered dings, and faint patterns of
original case colors on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent. This exceptional solid frame 1890 would be difficult to improve on!
