Colt/Turnbull Restorations Third
Generation Single Action Army
Revolver with 2 Inch Barrel, Pearl Grips,
and Factory Letter - Serial no. S65238A, 45
Long Colt cal., 2 inch round bbl., Carbonia Blue/
casehardened finish, pearl grips. The included factory
letter lists the revolver as .45 Colt, 3 inch barrel, grips
“Not Listed”, and shipped “In-The-White” when the revolver was
shipped to Doug Turnbull for Mr. Charles Marx. The “Remarks”
section of the letter states that the revolver was customized by
Turnbull Restorations for Mr. Marx, by cutting the barrel to 2 inches
and adding a standard sight blade, adding a hand fitted
set of mother of pearl grips, hand polishing the revolver,
and finishing the revolver in Carbonia Blue and Bone
Charcoal color casehardening on the frame, hammer, and
loading gate. The revolver was then sent back to Colt for
final inspection before being shipped back to Turnbull on
August 1st, 2013, for final delivery to Sunrise Pass Arms of
Minden, Nevada, on August 2nd, 2013, along with a second
consecutively serial numbered and highly customized
special ordered Turnbull collaboration revolver for Mr. Marx which is
available as the previous lot.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original Carbonia Blue
and casehardened finishes with minor handling evidence and some
oil discoloration on the edges of the grips. Mechanically excellent.

Army Revolver with Gold Plated
Cylinder, Ivory Grips, Box, and Factory
Letter - Serial no. SA69487, 45 Long Colt
cal., 3 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened/
gold finish, ivory grips. The included factory letter
confirms the current .45 Long Colt chambering, 3 inch
barrel, blue finish with gold plated cylinder, smooth
ivory grips with gold Colt medallions, and a
“black powder style frame” when the revolver was
shipped to Kiesler Police Supply Inc. of Clarksville,
Indiana, on May 24th, 1985, on Colt Custom
Shop order #2686 with one other revolver of the
same type in the shipment. The revolver is fitted
with standard blade front sight and groove rear
sight along with the “COLT SHERIFF’S MODEL”
marking on the left of the barrel and otherwise
standard markings. Included is the original Colt “wood grain” box
with Custom Shop label which lists many of the special features
and is marked “5 OF 10” indicating that these gold plated cylinder
revolvers are part of a limited run of just 10. The other matching
revolver from this shipment is available as the previous lot.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue,
casehardened, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence.
Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with edge wear.

Army Revolver with 1 1/2 Inch Barrel,
Steer Head Pearl Grips, and Factory
Letter - Serial no. S65237A, 45 Long Colt cal.,
1 1/2 inch round bbl., Carbonia Blue/casehardened
finish, carved steer head pearl grips. The included
factory letter lists the revolver as .45 Colt, 3 inch
barrel, grips “Not Listed”, and shipped “In-The-White” when
the revolver was shipped to Doug Turnbull for Mr. Charles Marx. The
“Remarks” section of the letter states that the revolver was customized by
Turnbull Restorations for Mr. Marx, by cutting the barrel to 1 1/2 inches
without a front sight, adding a hand fitted set of mother
of pearl grips with carved steer head on the right panel
with ruby eyes and gold accents, cutting away the trigger
guard in the “Fitz Special” configuration (which the letter
notes that Colt did not approve), hand polishing the
revolver, and finishing the revolver in Carbonia Blue and
Bone Charcoal color casehardening on the frame, hammer,
and loading gate. The revolver was then sent back to Colt
for final inspection before being shipped back to Turnbull
on August 1st, 2013, for final delivery to Sunrise Pass Arms of Minden,
