.32 Single Action Revolver with Ultra Rare Short
Barrel, Factory Letter and Box - Serial
no. 582, 32 S&W cal., 2 1/2 inch solid rib
bbl., nickel finish, hard rubber grips. The
accompanying factory letter confirms
the ultra rare special order 2 1/2 inch
barrel (standard lengths were 3 and 3 1/2
inches), nickel finish, and checkered black
hard rubber grips. The letter states the
revolver was shipped on August 7, 1878
to F.A. Follett, Belfast, Maine. This shipment was for 2 revolvers with the special order 2 1/2 inch barrel along with 200 cartridges. Knowledgeable collectors believe these two revolvers listed in this shipment are the only .32 Single Action Revolvers that left the factory with a 2 1/2 inch barrel. This is an early model with three digit serial number and no strain screw, as found in the 1-6500 serial number range. The barrel rib has the two-line address/patent dates marking, and matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch. The original S&W factory box is numbered to the gun and correctly stamped “NICKEL/PLATED” on the underside. The box contains an oiler, four cartridges and one wad cutter.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% original nickel plating and nearly all original case colors on the hammer with some minor handling marks and overall crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some minor wear. An incredibly rare 19th century S&W top-break revolver that will make a valued addition to any collection!

inch, barrel, blue finish (extremely
rare as 80% plus of this model were
