is approximately 6 bore. This gigantic Brown Bess measures six feet in overall length. CONDITION: Very good, exhibiting a mix of original brown finish and smooth brown patina
on the iron surfaces with some occasional small patches of light pitting, and defined lock markings. Stock is good as sanded and re-oiled, with scattered light dents and scratches, a replacement spliced front section, various light cracks and repairs, and overall good figure. Mechanically fine. blunderbuss was intended for use on naval ships with a swivel bracket. The barrel has London commercial proofs. Faint traces of markings visible on the lock. “A.S.BRETT” marked in the wood behind the lower trigger guard tang. The bore measures at approximately 1.1 inches (approximately 4 bore), and the muzzle flares to 3 inches. Measures 52 inches in overall length. Absent ramrod.
CONDITION: Very good, with period applied brown finish and scattered light pitting on the barrel, scattered mild pitting, and wear on the lock. Various professionally made modern replacement components. The modern made replacement stock is fine with defined edges, a few professionally repaired spliced sections, and some light handling marks. Mechanically fine.
