Highly Desirable First Issue Unaltered Model 1908
Military DWM 1913 Dated Military Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, Serial Number 767
- Serial no. 767, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured on contract for the German military, the 1913 DWM Luger marks the transition from the “First Issue” pattern to the standard that would carry through the
First World War. Like the first issue, this Luger was manufactured without a stock lug or hold-open device, and this example managed to avoid being retrofit for the latter during its service life. Fixed sights, with “1913” on the chamber and the DWM monogram on
the front toggle. Three “crown/letter” proofs are present on the right side of the extension, with Imperial eagle firing proofs on the extension, barrel and breechblock, and traditional “GESICHERT” and “GELADEN” markings on the lower safety position and extractor. The magazine base
is blank, otherwise numbers are matching overall, including on the grips.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of spotting and brown patina
concentrated on the grip straps, bright edge wear, and mild handling marks. 75% of the original straw color is present, with a gray patina and mild spotting on the remainder. The grips are very fine, with a few dings and flat
spots on the sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
Provenance: The Paul Crockett Jr. Collection.
