Inserts - Serial no. 12726, 12 gauge,
28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/gold finish,
walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with
dual bead sights on the matted flat vent
rib, standard Krieghoff markings, German proofs dating to 2008, interchangeable chokes (cylinder/cylinder installed),
and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The blued action displays deeply engraved floral scrollwork with gold
inlaid borders surrounding gold inlaid game scenes on either side and a gold crown over “K-80/Shotguns of Ulm/W.-
GERMANY” on the underside. The scroll continues to the top tang, trigger guard, and top lever which is inlaid with a
gold crown. The gold game scene on the right shows a pointer flushing a trio of quail in a field scene and the left shows
a fox flushing a trio of pheasant in another field scene along with a gold duck on the top latch. All three scenes are rendered
in exquisite highly detailed raised relief. The left side is signed with a tiny “U.S.” beneath the scene for Krieghoff Master Engraver Uwe
Spindler. The gun features a single gold selective gold trigger and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Beautifully figured, fancy checkered Schnabel tip forend with engraved fittings, including the Deeley style release, and pistol grip stock with an ebony grip cap, right hand palm swell, and a Kick-Eez recoil pad. Per the consignor, the woodwork is custom done Dock Willer. Includes a Krieghoff takedown case, nine extra assorted chokes, and a Briley case inside containing a set of full length inserts in each .410 bore, 28 gauge, and 20 gauge with interchangeable chokes (improved cylinder installed in all per the consignor). Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved and measured at 18.6 mm (.732 inches); minimum wall thickness .040/.040 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 1 5/8 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 14 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes with minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few varnish chips, scattered minor scratches, and sharp checkering. The case and accessories are very fine. Mechanically excellent.
