Exceptional Master Engraved Gold-Inlaid Lynton McKenzie Signed Krieghoff Model 32 Over/Under Shotgun Five Barrel Set with Case - Serial no.
4929, 12/20/28/410 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. This striking Krieghoff shotgun features dual bead sights on the vent rib with standard German commercial proofs,
3 inch chambers, ejectors, and skeet/skeet chokes. The receiver has a deep matte blue finish with brilliant gold-inlaid borders, and bright polished blue accents in the masterfully executed
English Victorian style scroll engraving. The underside of the receiver is signed “L. McKenzie” on the right side of the trigger. Lynton McKenzie, a native of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia took up gunsmithing at age 11, and by his late teens was widely regarded as the countries leading gunsmith. He would later travel throughout Europe with letters of introduction from both the Premier and Prime Minister of Australia. He studied engraving with Belgian and Italian masters and went on to engrave for the world famous London firms of Holland & Holland, Rigby, and others. He is known to have engraved for heads of state around the world including the Sultan of Brunei, the Saudi Royal Family, English heads of state, and even the Emperor of Japan. Sadly, McKenzie passed away in 2009. Fancy European walnut checkered forearm and pistol grip buttstock with a contrasting ebony grip cap with an engraved inset gold diamond inscribed “THD”, with a solid Decelerator recoil pad. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 9/16 inches; drop at heel 1 15/16 inches; length of pull 14 1/8 inches. With an aluminum Americase takedown case containing four extra barrel sets. The extra barrels all have vent ribs and have been numbered to match the gun. The specific gauges and measurements for the extra barrels are: 30 inch 12 gauge with 3 inch chambers, and improved modified/full chokes; 28 inch 20
gauge magnum with 3 inch chambers, and skeet/skeet chokes; 28 inch 28 gauge magnum with 3 inch chambers, and skeet/skeet chokes; 28 inch .410 bore magnum with 3 inch chambers, and skeet/skeet chokes.
CONDITION: Extremely fine as master embellished by Master Engraver Lynton McKenzie. 99% of the blue finish remains with sharp, precise engraving, complete gold-inlaid borders, some very light handling marks. The wood is excellent with crisp checkering,
some very small dings, and fine attractive figure. Mechanically excellent. Extra barrels are excellent overall with light handling marks. Case is very good with some scuffs and dings on the exterior,
and light oil staining on the interior. Estimate: 12,000 - 16,000
