Cased Engraved and Gold Inlaid Colt Paterson Percussion Revolver with Box - Serial no. 72, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. The barrel features two gold inlaid bands
at the muzzle (one on either side of the front sight), with a partial band at the rear ahead of zig zag engraving. The sides of the barrel have a spray of floral scroll work on a punchdot background with leafy engraving on the loading lever tip. The cylinder has two gold bands with the stagecoach hold up scene between them. The frame also features floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background which extends onto the back strap. Includes a glass top Colt display case and Colt Black Powder Series box. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks, a hairline crack on the right side of the grip at the frame, and crisp engraving. Mechanically excellent. Box and case are very fine. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500

Rare Cased John Adams Sr. Signed and Master Engraved 150th Anniversary of the Civil War Commemorative Colt Black Powder Series Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver with Adams Letter - Serial no. 224850, 44 cal., 8 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, carved grips. Manufactured as a Blackpowder Series Colt 1860 Army, subsequently master engraved by the world renowned firm of Adams & Adams as a run of a mere 35 pieces, and finished by Doug Turnbull.
Below the serial number is the signature “J. ADAMS” for master engraver John Adams Sr. An included Adams & Adams letter lists this revolver as being in .44 caliber, state #13 “Ohio” with a custom North and South motif, and blue and casehardened finish by Turnbull Mfg. Co. The letter also confirms the grip material and lists the carving as executed by John Adams Sr. The revolver is housed in a Duncan Everheart made hardwood case with maroon velvet lining and a mirror inserted into the
lid. A brass plaque on the exterior reads “ADAMS & ADAMS/NORTH SOUTH/~1861 CIVIL WAR/SESQUICENTENNIAL 2011~/ COMMEMORATIVE 1860 ARMY”.
CONDITION: Excellent overall as engraved by Master Engraver John Adams Sr., retaining 99% plus Doug Turnbull blue finish and vibrant case colors with limited handling marks, and crisp engraving and grip carving. Includes a presentation case containing both guns, a stock numbered to “B”, a bullet mold, a powder flask, and an “L” shaped combination tool as well as the original Colt “woodgrain” boxes for each gun.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish and case colors with limited handling marks and a couple minor spots of surface oxidation. Mechanically excellent.
