Parker Reproduction A1-Special Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Case - Serial no. 12-164, 12 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Introduced to the Parker Reproduction line in 1988. The chart on page 180 of “The Parker
Story” by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote lists only 300
A1-Special custom engraved guns manufactured. Blued steel barrels
with a single brass bead sight on the matted concave solid rib
which is marked “Parker Reproduction by WINCHESTER East Alton
IL, U.S.A. Made in Japan”, 2 1/2 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving
with a single gold band at either breech, and 2 3/4 inch chambers
with automatic ejectors. The casehardened boxlock action displays
beautifully carved fences with tiny panel game bird scenes on either
side along with four full size scenes and gold inlaid “PARKER BROS”
on either side. The left shows a pair of pointers, the right has a pair
of setters, and the underside has both a pair of pointers and a single
setter with a bird in his mouth all surrounded by fine scrollwork. The
engraving extends to the tangs, pierced toplever, and triggerguard
which shows a single woodcock. The gun features a single selective
gold trigger and tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”.
Beautifully figured, fancy fleur-de-lis carved and checkered splinter
forend with engraved fittings, including the Deeley release, and pistol
grip stock with contrasting gold inlaid grip cap and engraved skeleton
buttplate around the checkered bare butt. Includes an extra matching
numbered 26 inch barrel set with “Q1”/”Q2” marked chokes and
matching engraving as well as a pair of snap caps, an oiler, and a factory
takedown case that houses the entire set. Barrel measurements for the
extra set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .735/.735 inches; choke constriction .003/.005
inches; minimum wall thickness .028/.029 inches. Barrel and stock measurements for the primary set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .735/.735 inches; choke constriction .009/.022 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.028 inches; 1 1/4 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 3/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 15 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue and casehardened finishes, limited handling evidence, and sharp checkering and carving on the stock and forend. The case is very fine and accessories and extra barrel set are all excellent. Mechanically excellent.
