Desirable and Exceptional Griffin & Howe U.S. Springfield
Armory Model 1898 Krag-Jorgensen Bolt Action Sporting Rifle - Serial no. 474362, 30-40 Krag cal.,
24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1903, and subsequently upgraded to current configuration by
Griffin & Howe. Features a hooded and fixed beaded blade front sight on a ramped and matted post, an integrated sling swivel stud on the blued barrel marked “GRIFFIN
& HOWE INC. NEW YORK” on top and with the “30-40 KRAG” caliber designation on the left side of
the chamber, a Lyman 48K adjustable target peep micrometer rear sight (with matching “B15” part
numbers) mounted to the left side of the receiver behind the model number, armory name, and
serial number. Fitted with a multi-point checkered pistol grip walnut stock with a horn forend tip,
blued steel grip cap, shadowline cheek piece, an unmarked silver escutcheon on the underside of
the butt along with a sling swivel stud, and an Ithaca Gun Co. marked red rubberized butt pad.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining 95% plus blue finish with some limited minor edge wear, some limited thinning and plum coloration, light cycling wear, and clear markings.
The stock is also exceptionally fine with a few minor compression marks and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Griffin & Howe/Mauser Bolt Action Dangerous Game Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 83733,
375 H&H Magnum cal., 25 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. This rifle was built by the renowned American gunmaking
firm in the 1961 on an Oberndorf Mauser 98 action. The rifle features a blued barrel without provisions for iron sights, “No. 2478 GRIFFIN & HOWE NEW YORK,
N.Y.” signed on the top, “CAL. .375” marked at the left of the chamber, and the front scope mount integral to a barrel band holding a Lyman Alaskan scope. The barrel is fitted
to the blued single square bridge Mauser action which features the rear scope ring, a jewelled bolt body,
and matching numbers on the bolt’s small parts. The bottom metal is blued with the classic Oberndorf
bump and displays a gold inlaid bust of a lion at the center of the straddle floorplate with leafy floral scroll
surrounding it and extending to the inside-the-bow release trigger guard. The rifle is fitted in a beautifully
figured and borderless multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with ebony forend tip, sling stud, engraved
recoil bolt, ebony grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, and a Silver’s type recoil pad.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 75% blue finish, 99% gold finish, some light handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock. Mechanically excellent. The scope optics are clear.

Griffin & Howe Model 1903 Bolt Action Heavy Barrel Target Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 1102, 30-06
Springfield cal., 28 inch heavy round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Built by Griffin & Howe in the 1930s, this rifle represents what was the pinnacle of full power target
shooting in its day. The rifle features a heavy barrel with a clamped on Lyman 77R front sight, front scope block holding a J. Unertl 14x scope, “30/06 GOV.” caliber marking on the left of
the chamber, and “No. 1102 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK” engraving on the top behind the scope block. The barrel is fitted to the blued Model 1903 action with matted front bridge
holding the rear scope block, a jewelled bolt, knurled bolt handle, a Lyman rear peep sight, and blued bottom metal. The rifle is
fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered pistol grip stock forend with rail under the forend, blued steel grip cap, sling
studs, saddle cheekpiece, and a Fray-Mershon buttplate.
CONDITION: Extremely fine, retaining 98% original blue finish with minor handling evidence. The stock is very fine with some dings
and scratches and mostly sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
