Highly Desirable Early First Year Production
Three Digit Serial Number “114” Winchester Model 42 Slide
Action Shotgun - Serial no. 114, 410 gauge, 26 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1933, the first year of
production for these highly desirable scaled down versions of
Winchester’s also iconic Model 12. The gun was built with a blued
Winchester Proof Steel barrel featuring a single bead sight, standard
factory markings, 3 inch chamber, and choke marked “FULL”.
The barrel is fitted to the blued receiver which is unadorned aside from the Winchester “WP” proof and the extremely low serial number
“114”. The gun is fitted with a lightly figured 18-groove forend as well as a pistol grip stock with checkered factory hard rubber buttplate. Stock
measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 13 15/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish, light handling evidence, and some
scratches and pressure marks on the otherwise very fine wood. Mechanically excellent.

Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Shotgun - Serial
no. 292293, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, walnut
stock. Manufactured in 1921 and built with a blued Nickel steel barrel
featuring dual bead sights on the matted flat solid rib, standard factory markings,
and choke marked full and measured constriction of .031 inches (full). The barrel is fitted
mated to the blued action which displays highly attractive 12-5 pattern engraving depicting
a flock of four mallards in flight over a pond on the left side and a pair of dogs flushing
grouse on the right, all surrounded by expertly executed broad scroll engraving. The gun is
fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend as well as a straight wrist
stock with black diamond inlays at either side of the head and a Winchester rubber recoil
pad. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 1 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/16 inch
length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 11 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 85% plus bright original high polish blue finish on the action and barrel, 80% original blue on the magazine tube, some slide retraction wear,
light handling evidence, slight gap at the trigger guard tang/wood fit, and sharp checkering on the freshened stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
