Manufactured between 1951 and
1981. Remington’s “F Grade” or Premier
Grade guns were a product of the Custom
Shop and are entirely hand fitted by Remington’s
master gunsmiths before undergoing the extensive highly attractive
embellishment process displayed as seen on this rifle, a process which,
according to retired Remington Custom Shop engraver Leo Walter Bala, could take up to 80 hours of work to complete
on a rifle like this. Built with a blued barrel featuring a ramped beaded blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, standard markings, and a wedge
of scroll engraving at the breech extending toward the muzzle and butting up to the rear sight. The receiver is fully covered in absolutely beautiful broad leafy
scrollwork over a matted background for contrast and surrounding six separate highly detailed relief inlaid gold game scenes. The scenes consist of a grizzly bear,
a cougar, and a deer on the left and a pronghorn antelope, a bugling elk, and a mountain goat on the right, all of which are displayed in their natural habitats. The scroll
extends to the trigger guard and underside of the action where it surrounds the hand cut manufacturer, model, and serial number markings, as well as the magazine floorplate. The gun is signed with a
small “R” beneath the grizzly scene on the left, the signature of Remington Master Engraver Robert Runge. The rifle is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend as well as a pistol
grip stock with factory grip cap, blank gold inscription oval, and serrated buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent with 99% plus original blue and gold finishes showing a few minor handling marks overall, sharp engraving with minor wear on the elk, and few minor surface scuffs on the sharply
checkered wood. Mechanically excellent. A truly exceptional Master engraved and gold inlaid Remington rifle!
