Harness of Armour -
Manufactured c. the 20th
century in Toledo, Spain,
this is an attractive harness
of display armour. The
harness itself was produced
in pseudo-16th century style
using a mix of romanticized
fantasy and historical elements.
The rear neck guard of the helm
is stamped “MADE IN SPAIN”.
The rear of the helm has a ferule
fitted with a plume. Many of the
components are articulated, while
some show the appearance of being
articulated with fixed rivets. Includes
a sword with “CARLOS V” cast in the
guard. It stands approximately 75 inches
tall including the wood base.
CONDITION: Fine overall, the
metal remaining mostly
bright with some surface
oxidation on some of the
components. A fine display
piece for your lounge or
office!

Fine Antique European Halberd
- Consignor statements attribute this item to Styria (a duchy of the Holy Roman Empire, corresponding
to modern day Southern Austria and Northern Slovenia) in the late 16th century. Total length is
approximately 95 1/2 inches long, with an octagonal hardwood shaft running approximately 68 inches.
The head is iron construction, with a set of reinforcement bands riveted to the shaft, running 14 inches
down in the front and back and 9 1/2 inches on each side, with pierced-through keyhole decoration in
the blades, a crescent blade measuring 5 1/2 tall and 5 inches wide in front, a rear hook measuring 3 1/2
inches long, and a diamond cross-section top spike measuring 24 inches long.
CONDITION: Fine overall, with a mixed brown and gray patina on the head, some bending of the top
spike, and mild wear on the shaft. The fit of the head to the shaft is very strong and tight, with no
discernible wiggle or play.

by Norman R. Blank from Maggs Bros. Ltd. in October 1958. 3) “Supplement to a Treatise on
Ancient Armour, Being Illustrations of Ancient and Asiatic Armour & Weapons” by Francis
Grose in 1789. Purchased by Mr. Blank from Ben H. Charon in December 1958. 4) “Meister
der Waffenschmiedekunst vom XIV bis ins XVIII. Jahrhundert. Ein Beitrag zur Geschichte der
Kunst und des Kunsthandwerks von Wendelin Boeheim Custos der Waffensammlung des

CONDITION: The books are generally fine with mild to moderate shelf wear, minor staining, some
loose sections, and some notations.
