Powder Express cal., 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a
beaded blade front and three leaf (one standing, two folding) rear sights on the smooth solid rib, “HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND STREET. LONDON” and
“WINNERS OF ALL THE ‘FIELD’ RIFLE TRIALS. 1883.” marked on the right and left respectively, and correct period London black powder proofs. The casehardened Jones Underlever back action
has simple line border engraving and is marked “CHARGE 5 DRAMS CASE 3 1/4 INCHES” on the left of the receiver and “HOLLAND & HOLLAND” signed on either lockplate. The rifle features blued
rebounding hammers and double triggers. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend and pistol grip stock with horn grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, rear sling eye, and casehardened checkered trapdoor buttplate. Length of pull 14 15/16 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 8 oz.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as beautifully professionally refurbished, retaining 99% blue and casehardened finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.

500/465 Nitro Express - Serial no. 111180, 500/465 Nit

steel barrels with a ramped blade front sight, three leaf (one standing, two folding) rear
sight on the right quarter rib, “500/465 3 1/4’ CASE. 75. 480.” marked on either barrel, “LYON
& LYON LTD. CALCUTTA.” on the rib, period Birmingham nitro proofs, and chambers with a single extractor.
The 500/465 was a popular choice for English gentleman in India after the British Government passed the 1907 ban on .45 caliber cartridges being shipped to and sold in India as well as the Sudan. The casehardened action displays
border engraving with “LYON & LYON LTD.” signature on either lockplate and features rebounding hammers and dual triggers. Attractive, nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with horn tip inlay and pistol grip stock with blank inscription oval and casehardened grip cap and buttplate. Length of pull 14 3/8 inches. Weight 11 lbs. 1 oz.
