Factory Angelo Bee and Paul Doubois Signed, Engraved, and Gold Inlaid Browning 28 Gauge
B25 Superposed Shotgun Cased Two Barrel Set with Case - Serial no. OF246, 28 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a single white bead sight on the matted vent rib with gold inlaid “1” at the breech, 2 3/4 inch chambers, hand cut markings, a band of acanthus engraving ahead of two gold inlaid bands at the breech end, and chokes marked improved cylinder/modified. The coin sideplated action features a game scene on either side plate of a duo of grouse on the left and a pair of doves on the right with a gold inlaid border at the rear edge, and a retriever with a woodcock in its mouth on the underside. The remainder of the action displays masterfully executed tight scroll engraving with floral bouquets and gold inlaid accent lines on both sides, the tang, safety/selector, and around the retriever panel on the underside. Even the pierced top lever displays a floral bloom with central running floral scroll flourish. The lower left side of the action is signed “A. BEE EB” for Master Engraver Angelo Bee and “P. Doubois” on the trigger plate for Master Engraver Paul Doubois. Mounted with a magnificently figured multipoint checkered three piece walnut forend with engraved and gold inlaid fittings and pistol grip buttstock with skip line checkered bare butt. Includes a leather and brass covered takedown case containing a 28 inch set of .410 barrels numbered “2” with chokes 3 inch chambers and chokes marked improved cylinder/full. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at the comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at the heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 10 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue and coin finishes with limited handling marks and crisp engraving. Stock is very fine with a couple small dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Extra barrel set is excellent. Case is excellent. Estimate: 7,000 - 11,000
