June 10, 1959. On page 102 of “Colt Single
Action Revolver Handbook 1955-1975”,
author Don Wilkerson notes that of all the .38
Special chambered Second Generation Single
Action Army revolvers produced, only around 113 were manufactured with nickel finish and 4 3/4 inch barrels, making it the least common variation for the caliber. Assembly number “201” is found on the loading gate and back of the frame. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and “296” partials on the inside of both grips as well as on the cylinder front face. Includes a replacement Colt box, reproduction “NICKEL FINISH” label, cleaning rod, and manual, and a numbers matching State of New Jersey handgun purchase permit, dated March 8, 1996, registering it to Robert J. Kaminski (1942-2011) of Gloucester City, New Jersey, who was a former federal firearms dealer.
According to "Colt Single Action Revolver Handbook 1955- 1975" by Wilkerson, approximately 113 Colt Single Actions were produced in this configuration.

1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, hard rubber grips. The included factory
letter lists this revolver in .45 caliber with 5 1/2 inch barrel, nickel finish,
and stocks not listed with the special notation “For use in preparation
of an article for Argosy Magazine” on a loan account for Pete Kuhlhoff in
Clinton Connecticut on March 7,1958. Fitted with blade front and frame
notch rear sights. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame,
triggerguard, and back strap with partial serial number “169” on the rear
face of the frame and inside the grips. The assembly number “173” is on the frame and inside the loading gate. Pete Kuhlhoff was a pulp journalist, author, and illustrator from the Great Depression until his death in 1972. His illustration work reached its height during World War II as Kuhlhoff was not required to serve in the Armed Forces due to his age. During the 50s, when this revolver would have been shipped to him, he was writing technical articles about firearms and ammunition for Argosy Magazine. These articles were typically not just written by Kuhlhoff, but illustrated as well. Includes original black box with “NICKEL FINISH” sticker above end label and bore brush. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original nickel finish with minimal limited handling marks, drag lines in the cylinder notches, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is very fine with minimal handling marks.

The included factory
letter lists this revolver as chambered in .45 caliber
with 4 3/4 inch barrel blue finish and grips not listed
when shipped to John Barkley Gunsmith in Van Nuys,
California on July 14, 1960. Matching serial numbers are
found on the frame, triggerguard, and back strap with
the last three digits on the front face of the cylinder
and inside each grip. The assembly number “215” is
marked on the rear of the frame, and inside the loading gate. Includes the original black box containing a cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish with some light handling marks and light partial cylinder drag line. Mechanically excellent. Box is very fine.

Manufactured in 1970 with standard markings and features. Includes an un-numbered Colt stagecoach box and shipping sleeve hand-numbered to gun.
CONDITION: Excellent with 98% original nickel finish with a few light handling marks and traces of a cylinder drag line. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some scattered light wear. Estimate: 2,500 - 3,750
