Engraved Ranger Arms Texas Magnum Bolt
Action Rifle with Scope and Book Reportedly Owned by Texas Governor John Connally - Serial no. 2305, 7 mm magnum cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, maple stock. Manufactured in 1979/1980 per the included letter from Jim Ridings of October, 2001. Blued steel barrel manufactured without sights, marked “RANGER ARMS INC. GAINESVILLE, TEX.” and “7 MM MAG” on the left side, and a 6 inch wedge of floral scroll engraving on a matted background at the breech and a 2 inch wedge at the muzzle. The action displays full coverage of the same floral scroll engraving which extends to the bottom metal and floorplate. Mounted in a well-figured maple stock with a green epoxy finish, contrasting forend tip and grip cap, raised cheekpiece, and

vented rubber recoil pad. Per the aforementioned letter, this gun was owned by past Texas Governor John Connally and used on several white-tailed deer hunts in Texas. John Connally also served as John F. Kennedy’s Secretary of the Navy for a time as well as Richard Nixon’s Secretary of the Treasury. Connally is also famous due to the fact that he was riding in the car with President Kennedy when he was assassinated, and was also hit by a bullet that had allegedly passed through the President. Includes a Redfield 4-12x scope and a copy of Stuart Otteson’s “The Bolt Action Volume II”, in which the turbulent past of Ranger Arms is discussed at great lengths from formation to shutdown through its many leaders.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 99% original blue finish, minimal minor handling evidence, small spot of corrosion near the muzzle, and sharp engraving. The scope optics are clear. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Klaus Meyer Collection.

Game Scene Engraved and Silver Unknown Mauser Model
98 Bolt Action Sporting Rifle with Carved stock and Zeiss Scope - NSN, 270 Win cal., 24 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, walnut stock. Built off of an unknown Mauser Model 98 style action, reportedly by rifle builder J. Ridings, per the
consignor. Blued steel barrel without sights and marked simply “270 WIN.” The blued action displays near full coverage floral scroll
engraving that extends to the bolt handle and scope rings which hold a Zeiss Diavari-C 3-9x36mm scope. The bottom metal is engraved in the same
style with a silver inlaid red stag and hind in a field scene. Beautifully figured stock which features masterfully executed floral carving and checkering, a
running deer scene on the right of the stock, contrasting forend and grip cap, roll-over cheekpiece, and checkered steel buttplate.
CONDITION: Excellent as professionally built, retaining 99% blue finish, crisp engraving, limited handling evidence, and sharp carving and checkering on the stock. Scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent.
