Excellent Colt Second Generation
Single Action Army .38 Special Revolver with
Original Black Box - Serial no.
1036SA, 38 Special cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish,
hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1956 the first full year of production for the second generation
Single Action Army, and is one of 6506 in this configuration compared to 16,387 with the same barrel length and finish in .45 Long Colt. Only one in every six second generation Single Action
Army Revolvers was in .38 Special per Wilkerson. Production in this caliber was fairly limited thanks in part to the introduction
of the .357 Magnum cartridge to the line in 1960. Standard markings and features as well
as matching serial number on frame, triggerguard, and backstrap, and matching assembly
number “191” on loading gate, rear of frame, cylinder, and both grip panels. Includes the
original Colt black box, bore brush, warranty card, “Important” hang tag, “Handling the
Handgun” pamphlet, and “Ask Your Dealer” foldout, as well as a copy of Don Wilkerson’s “Colt Single-Action Revolver Handbook 1955-1975”.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish and case colors with limited handling marks, slight edge wear, extremely faint cylinder drag line, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with repaired corners.

Documented Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Rare
Round Top Fixed Firing Pin Hammer and Original Black Box - Serial no. 28310SA, 45 LC
cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1959 . Standard markings.
Matching serial numbers on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap with partial serial number “310” on the front cylinder face and inside each grip panel. The assembly
number “157” is marked on the inside of the loading gate. This revolver is pictured
on page 56 of Don Wilkerson’s “Colt Single-Action Revolver Handbook 1955-
1975”, a copy of which is included, and is noted as shipping October 6, 1959, to
Appleton, Wisconsin as well as being one of few revolvers to ship with a round
top, fixed firing pin hammer used from 1959-1960. The change from the high
hammer to the lower round top hammer provided fast draw competitors with a
hammer that was easier on the thumb. Also includes the original black box.
